History of Split surroundings
You can't change the past
The Archaeological Museum in Split is the oldest museum in Croatia, founded way back in 1820 by decree of the Dalmatian government in Zadar. The original building of the museum stood next to the eastern walls of Diocletian's Palace. The museum preserves about 150,000 archaeological monuments and artifacts, a part of which is presented through a permanent exhibition.
Salona was an ancient city, the former capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the birthplace of Emperor Diocletian. Next on our itinerary is Klis Fortress. This medieval fortress is situated above a village bearing the same name – Klis. Due to its location, the fortress served as a major source of defense in Dalmatia. Our last stop is Ethno Agro Park Stella Croatica- a producer of the finest delicacies. It has been founded following the roots of families Polić and Dabelić and their family tradition. Let them delight you with their unique sweets and natural beauty products.
